Discovery and Design Strategy
Context Gathering: Conducted early brainstorming sessions with designers from a previous uplift to gather context on stakeholder preferences, legacy decisions, and known pain points. Used these insights to inform the design direction and identify reusable patterns.
Site Structure Preservation: Maintained the existing site structure to preserve user familiarity and reduce friction for returning visitors. Initial efforts focused on aligning component choices with updated design goals.
System Integration: Applied a new design system across all pages, with a focus on consistency, brand alignment, and responsive performance.
Visual Differentiation: The main challenge was avoiding visual repetition across pages due to a shared component library. This was addressed through careful variation in layout, hierarchy, and visual rhythm, creating distinction while staying within system constraints.
Component Approach and Layout
Component Usage: Used the design system’s component library to accelerate layout decisions and ensure consistency. Key components included multi-column grids, accordions for expandable content, and structured tables for dense information.
Navigation Support: The card module played a central role in creating interactive pathways between pages, improving navigation and discoverability.
CTA Hierarchy: Established a clear CTA hierarchy across the microsite. The primary action (career search) was featured in the global navigation and hero banners. The secondary CTA (join the talent network) was consistently placed at the end of each page to engage users who scrolled through without interacting.
Consistency in Interaction: Button copy and placement were intentionally consistent to reduce decision friction and encourage conversion.
Visual Styling and Content Hierarchy
Color Theming: Applied color theming to distinguish audience segments while maintaining brand consistency. Each section (early careers, corporate roles, and new professionals) used contrast-tested brand colors that carried through from section fronts to detail pages.
Visual Cues: This enabled users to quickly identify their intended section and improved content relevance at a glance.
Readability Enhancements: Improved readability by shortening line lengths, adjusted spacing, and improving content hierarchy.
Content Scannability: Dense sections were collapsed using accordions to allow for easier scanning without removing detail. Components like article highlights and image-supported layouts were introduced to enhance page flow and reduce cognitive load.
Scaling and Outcomes
Scalability Across Pages: With 26 unique pages, each layout and component decision had to scale across the full site. Patterns were refined early and applied holistically to maintain alignment and reduce inconsistencies.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Refined layouts through stakeholder feedback sessions, including a homepage graphic request that was reworked to better support flow and content hierarchy. The approach prioritized holistic consistency without sacrificing page-level clarity.
Reception and Results: The redesign was extremely well received by stakeholders and recognized during internal reviews for both its visual clarity and content organization.
Strategic Impact: Presentation feedback highlighted a strong understanding of the user and UX strategy. The project went beyond a visual refresh, focusing on usability, scalable patterns, and ensuring that every page felt intentional, relevant, and intuitive across the entire site.
